Wedding plans are well underway and here’s what is available about the location, guest list, wedding gown and other details.
Chelsea Clinton’s Secret Wedding Location
Now there are two “leaks” about the wedding location. The first one, months ago, said it will not be on Martha’s Vineyard, the Clinton’s favorite summer destination. The second one, a few weeks ago, said it will be held on the magnificent Astor Courts estate in Rhinebeck, NY. Some say that is only a ruse to divert attention away from the real location.
Chelsea's parents, former U. S. President William J. Clinton and current U. S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, aren't revealing anything.
The New York Post reported a July 31, 2010 wedding date for Chelsea in the context of Maggie Haberman's April 28, 2010 article on another summer wedding which will take place sometime after Chelsea's nuptials: that of Hillary Clinton's longtime aide Huma Abedin to Rep. Anthony Weiner.
Chelsea's parents, former U. S. President William J. Clinton and current U. S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, aren't talking.
Chelsea Clinton’s Wedding Guest List
A lot of the buzz is around the guest list, originally limited to 400 people, but, some say, perhaps expanded to 500. Rumors say President Obama, as well as Oprah, will be attending.
There’s no guest list guarantee for foreign heads of state, White House staffers for both the Clinton and Obama administrations, high-roller donors to Bill and Hillary’s political campaigns and donors to the Clinton Foundation, plus the staffers at Bill’s foundation, his Little Rock library and those of Hillary at the State Department.
Even sleeping in the Lincoln Bedroom during the Clinton presidency, or celebrity status, is no guarantee. Why? Chelsea said “no strangers”. The bride-to-be must personally know each person on the guest list. Chelsea’s politically astute decision helps let Bill and Hillary off the hook when it comes to liaisons that aren’t family based.
Chelsea Clinton’s Wedding Gown
There’s a double prediction on the bride’s wedding dress. There have long been rumors that she will become Marc’s wife wearing a wedding gown by designer Oscar de la Renta. This was first predicted by Vanity Fair writer Jessica Flint last November after the engagement was announced. She sketched the history of Hillary Clinton’s famous public appearances in de la Renta creations and noted that the famed designer became a family friend. He has already dressed Chelsea for other occasions, including her appearance at the 2007 New York Winter Ball of the School of American Ballet.
However, there is competition out there and it’s hard to know what is going on behind the scene. Styleite announced last month that Chelsea chose Vera Wang to do her wedding dress.
The Bride and Groom
Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky met as teens. Both of his parents, Edward and Marjorie (Margolies) Mezvinsky, served in the U. S. Congress, Edward from Iowa in the 1970s and Marjorie more recently from Pennsylvania. The Mezvinskys were often guests at the Clinton White House.
Chelsea and Marc both attended Stanford University and have jobs in New York City, where he is an investment banker and she has also been taking courses. They began dating while living in New York.

When invitations arrived, guests found no wedding location given. The plan was that the wedding planner would contact each guest directly a week in advance and let them know where the wedding is to be. “The secrecy has seemed more reminiscent of a giant military operation than a wedding,” Doree Shafrir wrote in the June 18, 2010 edition of New York Magazine.
